NFL Draft

I wanted to get through the first few rounds before I decided who has done the best job so far, and I have to say, as far as getting players the Colts have drafted two immediate impact players that will make this offense great again. Every draft analyzer was certain that the Giants would take TE Coby Fleener but they had a great RB fall into their lap, and the Colts have reunited Luck and Fleener.
Some of the trades in the first round were pretty good, some not. I think Dallas made a mistake drafting a guy they never talked to before but they needed a DB badly.
Cleveland made a good move picking up Trent Richardson (RB) and even the hated Eagles made a nice move for the DT they had on the top of their list.
The Chargers got the better DE in the draft with Melvin Ingram which is weird because the Jets drafted before them and took a lesser DE in Coples. Coples could be good but he has been described as lazy. Good luck, Rex.
The Patriots did an awesome job of tightening up that defense trading up to get Dont'a Hightower, who could become a very dominant force in the NFL under Bellichick. Plus, they may have gotten the second best DE in the draft with Chandler Jones.

I like the Giants first two picks, a running back and a wide receiver, the third pick of CB Hosley is ok, but they should have gone for offensive line help.

How about the Jaguars? A 5 win team that took a punter in the 3rd round? Ridiculous.

Overall, there weren't any shocking picks, nothing huge. I think the Patriots or Colts did the best job in the AFC, NFC I'm not sure, maybe Philly who needed some help on defense. I also like the WR that the Cardinals picked up in the first round and I think St.Louis did a good job too, they had a solid draft.
You can still get a great player in the late rounds, sometimes guys just step up to the plate and exceed expectations, the real fun is watching these rookies develop into something great. I wish it was September already.

Luck vs. Griffin (for Sarge)

As a Giants fan I am beside myself with joy that the Colts have picked Luck already, Griffin is going to be another over rated/selfish/ player who will further destroy the failing Skins.
Griffin only won the Heisman over Luck because of big numbers and he only had big numbers because his conference has no D! Look at the stats of any other QB in the Big 12, they pass for big yards and that's it.
You may see one or at most three big years from him but that's it, QBs like that are a dime a dozen. I think even Cam Newton will fizzle out, like Donte Culpepper years ago for the Vikes.
The Colts made a great move and may only win 4 or 5 games this year but will be a 12 winner in no time.

Pledge to the Flag

This is the original pledge, the "under God" was added in 1954, not by our founding fathers. Just thought I'd throw it out there...

NYG 2012 schedule

With the draft coming up and the schedule released, I am pumped and ready to watch my New York Giants defend their title. There are a few things about this schedule I don't like and some things that I do. I've heard a few sports talkers saying the GMen have by far the toughest schedule in the NFL, but they said that last year too and although they finished a mediocre 9-7, they beat the Falcons, Packers, 49ers and Patriots to win the crown.
Here is the schedule:

Week 1: (Wednesday, 9/5): New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys 8:30 p.m. ET, NBC

Week 2 9/16: New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 3 9/20 (Thursday): New York Giants at Carolina Panthers, 8:20 p.m. ET, NFL Network

Week 4 9/30: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles, 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC

Week 5 10/7: New York Giants vs. Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Week 6 10/14: New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers, 4:15 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 7 10/21: New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 8 10/28: New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys, 4:15 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 9 11/4: New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, 4:15 p.m. ET CBS

Week 10 11/11: New York Giants at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 11: Bye

Week 12 11/25: New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers, 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC

Week 13 12/3: New York Giants at Washington Redskins, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Week 14 12/9: New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints, 4:15 p.m. ET FOX

Week 15 12/16: New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 16 12/23: New York Giants at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

Week 17 12/30: New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

The first thing I don't like is 3 of the first 4 games are primetime, and their rest period is scattered. Eleven days rest between games 1 and 2, then only four days rest between games 2 and 3, then ten days rest between 3 and 4 before they get back on a normal schedule.
As far as it being hard, especially after the bye....
I will admit that GB in NY is going to be extremely difficult. The Giants embarrassed the Packers at home in the playoffs and Green Bay will bring 120% to that game.
Otherwise, I am optimistic and here's why; the Steelers are not the team they were three or four years ago. As far as the Saints? The last two times they've faced NY they have blown them out in New Orleans, this year, the Giants have them at home in December. I hope it is 32 degrees with sleet/rain that day, although that is not typical New Jersey weather in early December, it could happen.
Traveling to the Ravens and Falcons could pose a problem, but if the Giants defense is healthy at that point, they can rattle Flacco and we saw them shut out the Falcons in the playoffs.
Ending the season with Philly could be as huge as ending it with Dallas was last year. That game could mean the division or a playoff spot. I think the NFC East is very balanced so I'll just start the Giants at 3-3 off the bat, figuring a split for each divisional series. I can see them going 9-7 again or maybe even 10-6, whether or not that makes them a playoff team, I have no idea. Plus, there is still so much that can happen, it is only April.

Explain this to me

Maybe I'm retarded but I don't get how people don't believe in Global Warming but believe in God. Now, here me out before you roll your eyes.
Okay, we know that there was an ice age, there is scientific proof that Earth was one land mass and covered in ice. We have seen the fossils, the Wooly Mammoth existed in places that are hot now. We also know that Earth warmed up and we had Dinosaurs and the animals from the Ice Age evolved into warm loving animals over time.
Now, scientists say that due to Carbon being released from the ground and burned that the average temp of Earth has risen. The naysayers on the right say this is not the case and the proof is spotty at best.
Now, we have the story of Jesus. A Jewish woman claims that she was impregnated by God (of whom we have 0 proof he exists), then she gave birth to the Messiah and angels spread the word to the people of Israel. The story then says that Jesus was killed on the cross and buried, only to rise again three days later. This story, people believe without fail and with pure faith, but tell them that the average temp of the Earth has risen two degrees and will continue to rise and they say "yeah right, prove it!".
To them I say, you just have to have faith.
